Bookings, teacher bios and a warm brand translated to web through a brand pivot, a pandemic and a subscription product still in pipeline. The longest-active partnership on the Observatory roster, and proof that real ones compound.
A neighborhood studio with a strong local following needed a web presence that could hold its own next to the platforms most studios surrender to. ClassPass and Mindbody templates flatten brand on contact; we needed bookings, recurring memberships and a teacher roster that read as a real place, not a tile in a marketplace.
Layer in a pandemic mid-engagement, a brand pivot from the original studio name, and a subscription product that needed runway, and the brief was clear: build something that could be remixed without being rebuilt.
Astro on the front, Storyblok on the back. The studio team writes class descriptions and teacher bios without ever calling a developer, and previews match production line for line.
A bespoke scheduler on Stripe that fits the way Blackbird actually teaches — class packs, drop-ins, memberships and waitlists — without inheriting Mindbody's UI debt.
On-location shoots across two studios over six years. Real teachers, real classes, real light. The About page is not a stock-photo cul-de-sac.
When the studio re-named, the system carried it. Type, color and the booking flow survived the refresh; the customers never had to relearn anything.
